How’s Your Reputation?

What does your brand look like? How are you showing up at work, home and in your social circles? As 2018 closes, begin to think about what your brand says about you.

Why is your reputation/brand important?

The best answer to this question is, if you do not brand yourself someone else will.

Controlling your reputation is one of the most important thing you can do in your adult life. It should start at a much younger age, especially in the age of social media. Any and everything can be brought to the surface, even when it is deleted. Be careful.

The last thing you want is to have a reputation or brand that is not reflective of yourself. Take a step back and think. What did you do to create this cloud, or sunshine, above your head. People do not get labeled for the sake of labeling. There is a reason behind it.

If this is your situation or if you do not have a brand here are some good questions to help your jump start your branding (or re-branding) process.

  • What is said about me when I am not in the room?
  • What am I known for?
  • Do I have any superpowers? Not literally folks.
  • What am I passionate about?

If you have a great brand among your friends and professional network, pay that forward. Help someone else.

If you are following me along on the #Last15of2018 journey you will know yesterday’s message was “You need the help“. Life is better together. We can’t go at it alone.

So why not have that talk with that friend who might need your help. Mentor that new hire. Just by paying it forward you are already increasing your own reputation. Talk about a win-win situation.
